The Mini Wedge Reader looks transparent to both the keyboard and the PC until a card is read. Power is supplied via the keyboard port from the PC. When a card is read, the Reader disables the keyboard and sends card data using the same scan codes used by the keyboard. The PC cannot distinguish between data from the keyboard and data from the Reader. |

The RS-232 Mini Swipe Readers are port powered devices that require no external power source. They can be configured in the field to provide various communication protocols and track formats. The default communication settings are 9600 bps 8N1. |

The USB Mini Swipe Readers are available in either a standard HID or a Keyboard Emulation mode—and can be reconfigured in the field. These readers meet the USB requirements for less than one unit load. |
